Compression

Shrink file size without losing the details that matter.

Reduce image file size for sharing and upload limits

PixelFree compression tools help reduce JPG, PNG, WebP and general image file sizes for websites, forms, email attachments and storage. You can use the main Image Compressor for flexible quality control or choose a target-size tool when a website requires a specific maximum file size.

Quality versus file size

Compression always involves a tradeoff. Photographs can usually tolerate more compression than screenshots, text-heavy images or graphics with sharp edges. When targeting a very small file such as 50 KB, the tool may need to reduce dimensions or quality to reach the requested size.

Choose the right format

JPG is often efficient for photos, PNG is useful for transparency and graphics, and WebP can offer strong compression for modern browsers. Compressing an image does not add missing detail, so start with the clearest source available.

Check the result before download

Preview the image at normal viewing size and zoom in on faces, text and fine details before downloading. A slightly larger file is often better than an aggressively compressed image that is visibly damaged.
